AION 2 server transfer: who can move, when, and what it costs

The transfer windows for Early Access and Launch servers, the faction and server-type rules, the per-region application hours, and the only cost that is not zero.

Short answer

Transfers run in weekly rounds: Early Access servers from after the 13 October (PDT) / 14 October (CEST) maintenance until before the 20 October (PDT) / 21 October (CEST) one, Launch servers a week later. You can only move within your own faction, Early Access characters can only move to other Early Access servers, and the transfer itself is free.

Before you start

  • You need a character on a global server and a destination server in the same faction that has not hit its transfer cap.

  • Quna — 1,000 per extra character slot (Only needed if the destination server has fewer free character slots than the number of characters you move.)

Steps

  1. Early Access servers transfer after the 13 October (PDT) / 14 October (CEST) maintenance and before the 20 October (PDT) / 21 October (CEST) maintenance. Launch servers transfer one week later, between the 20/21 October and 27/28 October maintenances.

  2. Application hours differ by region. North America East, North America West and South America run 09:00-13:00 and 15:00-19:00 PDT daily; Europe runs 03:00-07:00 and 09:00-13:00 PDT; Asia runs 20:00-00:00 and 02:00-06:00 PDT.

  3. The transfer items sit in the Shop under Server Transfer. The base cost and the per-character cost are both 0 Quna, and the base cost is limited to once per account.

  4. If you move six characters to a server with four free slots, the two extra slots cost 1,000 Quna each. That slot expansion is the only charge NCSOFT lists.

  5. Inbound and outbound counts per server refresh every hour on the hour. A server that reaches its cap closes early, and a server with excessive demand can be closed to transfers permanently.

If your situation is different

You are on an Early Access server
You can only move to another Early Access server. NCSOFT states that Early Access characters may not transfer to commercial launch servers.
Your destination is in the other faction
Not possible. Transfers are limited to servers within the same faction, so plan the move around your faction first.

If it does not work

The transfer fails or the server is not offered
The departure or destination server has probably hit its transfer capacity. Counts refresh hourly, and if you miss the round you can apply in the next transfer period.
The shop item is missing during your region's downtime
Availability follows the regional hours above. For the first round, NCSOFT corrected the Europe and Asia start to 03:30 PDT / 12:30 CEST.

Details

The short answer is above. The detail below only repeats what NCSOFT put in its own notices, because the rules changed twice in the first 48 hours of the feature.

Why the rounds matter more than the date

The feature opened once, but applications are grouped into weekly rounds tied to maintenance, and the two server types never share a round. Missing your round is not a lost chance: the next period opens the following week.

What the shop charge actually covers

The move is free in this first period. The only line with a price is character-slot expansion on the destination server, charged per slot rather than per character.

What is not confirmed

NCSOFT has not published a per-round transfer cap number, a list of which servers are near their cap, or whether later rounds will stay free. We are not guessing at any of those. The weekly patch notes are where changes to the shop and the transfer period show up first.
